Northern Indiana Weather Update Severe Storms Could Hit After 9 PM

Northern Indiana Weather: Severe Storms May Affect Friday After 9 PM

By the end of the workweek, northern Indiana will have abnormally pleasant temperatures due to a warming trend, but late Friday night might see severe storms.

Per the US National Weather Service Northern Indiana, Friday’s highs will reach the mid to upper 70s, with largely sunny skies and windy conditions. After 9 p.m., though, the weather is predicted to change as showers and thunderstorms become more likely drastically. There is a Level 2 of 5 for severe weather in the area since some storms might be intense to severe.

According to early forecasts, there is a 20–30% probability of light showers starting Thursday afternoon, especially around the I-69 corridor. With more extensive activity expected on Friday night, this risk climbs significantly on Thursday night.

Residents are advised to pay close attention to local forecasts, particularly if they have travel or outdoor plans on Friday night. Lows will be in the mid-40s throughout the night.

Securing outside items, reviewing emergency plans, and ensuring weather notifications are accessible are all examples of preparedness advice. Severe storms are typical in Indiana in the spring but can bring occasional hail and devastating winds. For real-time updates, tune in to NOAA Weather Radio or weather.gov/iwx.
